On a voyage of discovery in the 1800s, the great ship 'The Astrolabe' visited the shores of Marlborough and discovered the region's significant beauty and potential. Today, its namesake has captured these qualities and created a distinctive range of wines - Astrolabe. Nurturing the attributes of the soil, vine and climate and combining these with his minimalist approach in the winery, Simon Waghorn transforms the region's grapes into stylish and expressive wines. Already with a cult following, wines from Astrolabe offer excitement, exclusivity and exceptional value.

Astrolabe Wines was established by a group of friends in 1996, effectively to become Simon Waghorn's own label. All our grapes are sourced from our own vineyard development in the heart of the spectacular Waihopai Valley and from other specially chosen local vineyards in the Marlborough region. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc constitutes 80% of our production.
