On Friday 30th November we held our Annual Astrolabe Grower’s Field Day and Dinner. Everyone gathered together to visit the Comelybank, Saunders and The Wrekin Vineyards . It was an opportunity to discuss the viticultural and winemaking practices involved in producing the wines from each site. At each site there was a tasting with matching nibbles. A new classic was created matching the Chenin Blanc with crayfish and lime mayonnaise sandwiches
Back at Astrolabe Farm we had a tasting of the entire Astrolabe range and a retrospective tasting of Astrolabe Sauvignon Blanc to 2001. This was followed by dinner that Tim cooked for us. The entrée of clams and mussels cooked within bags of Durvillea seaweed was a triumph.
It was great to get together and celebrate another of growing and making wine together.
