In the winery Simon and Tim have completed most of the blending and various bottlings are being organised. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are still in barrel and will be for several months.

Astrolabe's Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc finally in UK retail

Waitrose now exclusively stocks the Astrolabe Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc, whilst Harrods continue to carry the Astrolabe Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. We are very excited about the new partnership with Waitrose supporting Marlborough sub regionality with the Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc, hopefully to be followed with the Astrolabe Kekerengu Coast Pinot Gris.

Blending Begins

Simon and Tim are currently looking at 31 different parcels of fruit picked from the three regions within Marlborough. They then have to blend and craft these parcels into our three distinctly different and award winning Sauvignon Blanc’s, the Marlborough, Awatere Valley and Kekerengu Coast wines. Each wine will best express the characteristics of the regions and terroir.

Simon and Tim are very pleased with the potential of the wines, and believe the 2009 vintage to be strong and expressive.

Astrolabe 2009 Harvest Begins

All of the fruit that came in today was machine harvested and in great condition, with our first hand picked fruit expected to come in tomorrow. The weather conditions in Marlborough at the moment are fantastic with warm days and cool nights predicted for the next few days, so far it is shaping to be a brilliant harvest.

Astrolabe Appoints New GM

Jason is 33, married to Liselot, and has two boys Joe and Sid. He has a dual honours degree from Holland University/Hogeschool Holland and the University of Wolverhampton in European Business Administration, with a double major in Marketing Communication and Design and Human Resource Management. His career has encompassed work as varied as retail management, corporate head-hunting, pruning and most recently was the Business Development Manager for Ormond Nurseries Group.
