Happy New Year all,
A real mixed bag of weather for us all in Marlborough. We had a lovely Christmas period of settled warm weather followed by a fairly average New Year of lazy southerlies and easterlies accompanied by a good dose of precipitation -- not ideal for the school holidays!
Jeremy and Simon are out on our vineyard sites checking how successful flowering has been and how fruit set is looking - giving an indication on the size of this year's crop -- and over the next month or so, we should get a handle on the likely crop estimates for the 2012 vintage.
As we are all aware, the Rena has sadly broken up, spewing many containers over-board. As yet, we are unsure if those containers are the ones containing our wine, but i must admit that any recovery of this wine is looking unlikely.....
